Ever since I became self employed a few years ago, I’ve been forced to deal with individual health insurance. The world of individual coverage isn’t as easy at it is when you’re getting a group policy with great benefits from your job. The premiums rise and the benefits can also be less than they were with a group plan. Disabilities may be present from birth, or the person may have suffered injury during childhood or adulthood. People may have been involved in car accidents, work-related incidents, or may have been wounded while serving their country.

Regardless of the cause, people who are unable to support themselves because of physical or mental disabilities may be eligible for benefits from the SSA. The process usually requires the applicant to completely fill out an official application for benefits. He or she should include a statement regarding the injury and should send copies of medical records and work-history. In many cases, the SSA will need to see the person’s work history to determine if they qualify for compensation. Continue reading ‘Social Security Disability Back-Payments’ »
