The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulates insurance agencies as well as the cost of insurance. They also deal with many of the flood damage claims that come in. In most states, you can purchase flood coverage through the same company that sells homeowner’s insurance, but in states where this is not available, the NFIP is there to help. However, many times, the insurance offered by the NFIP is inadequate in the event of a major flood. For this reason you will want to cover yourself with extra water damage coverage insurance.

Excess flood insurance is coverage for above and beyond the NFIP maximum set amounts. When you purchase primary insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program, you will be insured for a maximum of $250,000 for your home, $100,000 for the contents, and $500,000 for businesses. While this amount is typically adequate for modular homes and single-story houses, larger homes could be far more expensive. With these more expensive homes, $250,000 might make a large dent in the cost to cover minor flood damage, but in the event of severe damage or total loss, homeowners could be paying quite a bit out of pocket. This is why getting more insurance is important. Continue reading ‘Be Protected – Obtain an Excess Flood Insurance Quote’ »

When an individual has been seriously injured in an accident in the workplace, he or she may be entitled to permanent disability benefits, depending on the type and severity of the injury and other factors. Permanent disability benefits are worker’s compensation benefits for these individuals and there are three categories that the injured worker may fall into.

The first category is statutorial permanent disability. If someone has lost both hands, both arms, both feet, both legs, both eyes, or the permanent and complete loss of the use of any of those body parts, such an injury would be classified as statutorial permanent disability, entitling the injured worker to benefits. Even if the individual is able to work after the injury, he or she can still receive these benefits. For example, if you lost both legs, or the use of them, but are able to continue in your job as a bookkeeper, you can still receive permanent disability benefits. Individual dental plans work in the same way as most, if not all, insurance plans or packages function. Plans like health plans or auto insurance are being taken advantage of to protect their owners or plan holders from unforeseeable events, like a car accident or a grave health concern that unfortunately may happen. Dental plans also do this function, as there are dental accidents that happen, like someone breaking a tooth or someone figuring in an accident that will require reconstruction of the mouth. However, these events do not happen that often, and most dental needs are not related to catastrophic events, and they are usually just routine procedures like prophylaxis or denture replacement. Perhaps the most serious dental procedure most of us will ever need is a root canal operation. In this respect, plans connected to dental care are not really structured in the same way as most insurance plans available.

Individual dental plans usually have their most portions of their benefits for preventive dental care. Preventive dental care includes procedures such as dental checkups, prophylaxis, and mouth x-rays. Why is it the case for dental plans? As mentioned earlier, dental treatment that people will commonly undergo throughout their lifetimes will not be caused by accidents and other unforeseeable occurrences. Dental treatments usually result from minor problems that were not dealt with earlier and could have been avoided if detected and treated earlier. Providers of dental coverage plans encourage their plan holders to undergo regular preventive dental care so that these plan holders would not need to seek more extensive dental procedures, saving the insurance companies costs as well. Could your retail business benefit from supermarket insurance? If you run your own supermarket(s) then you are probably aware of just how important a business insurance policy can be to protect you and your livelihood. However, the retail sector may be perceived by some insurance providers as being a high risk as so much can potentially go wrong. This might actually make it harder for you to find suitable cover.

So, why is the retail trade held to be risky by some insurers? It is to do with their assessment of what can and does go wrong with this kind of business. Insuring an office, for example, may be relatively easy by comparison.

Supermarkets, on the other hand, may employ more staff, will have a regular footfall of customers and visitors; and may be more vulnerable to theft and vandalism. Continue reading ‘Would Your Business Benefit From Supermarket Insurance?’ »
