Insurance is extremely common in today’s world – almost everyone will have insurance of some sort; most will have multiple policies protecting themselves and their assets against various events. One type that tends to be misunderstood and underutilized is vision insurance, which offers a range of benefits relating to one’s eyesight, including cover for visits to eye specialists and related costs.

Vision insurance is a specialist type of cover, and is designed to provide for expenses relating to eye care and health. Similar to health insurance, a vision policy will cover office visits and services rendered by eye doctors, both general eye health practitioners and specialist optometrists (up to a certain level based on you’re the provider and plan selected). As with other policies, the insured will pay a monthly or annual premium in addition to a set deductible or excess amount every time a claim for reimbursement of specific eye-related services and costs is made.
